Apple recently rolled out the iOS 15.1 update for eligible iPhones. It is the first major update since the company launched the 2021 edition of its mobile operating system iOS, iOS 15. Now the tech giant has stopped signing iOS 15.0.2. This means that Apple iPhone users with new iOS updates can no longer downgrade to iOS 15.0.2. So, if you are already using iOS 15.1 then you cannot downgrade, even if you want to.
Released last month, iOS 15.0.2 was focused on fixing a bug that wasn’t resolved in the first update of the new build..
Apple regularly stops signing legacy codes after a new iOS build is launched as it allows the company to keep more devices on feature-rich versions and it also protects users from hackers that try to use newly discovered weak links. Although the company doesn’t recommend downgrading to an older iOS build, iPhone users who face battery issues and any other bugs when they install a new iOS build update also try to downgrade their operating system.
The latest iOS 15.1 brings in the SharePlay feature that was showcased by the company at WWDC 2021 in June, during the unveiling of iOS15. The feature gives users the ability to stream movies, TV, music and other media using FaceTime. When a user plays media, playback immediately starts for the whole group at the same time.
With iOS 15.1, Apple iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max users can record the video in the ProRes codec. This feature protects the image quality of videos by minimising their compression amount. The update fixes some bugs that some users have been facing after iOS 15 download. These include the bug where the Photos app may incorrectly report storage is full when importing photos and videos, the Weather app may not show current temperature for My Location and audio playing from an app may pause when locking the screen.
